Who?
Santiago and Sigo of Protect the Andes have shaped how I think about every garden I design. The charity is based near the Cocora Valley and works across Colombia on climate resilience, land‑use challenges, and creating corridors of biodiversity. Seeing conservation at that macro scale—how species move, how landscapes connect, how communities depend on healthy ecosystems—gives me a framework I bring back to the micro scale of UK gardens. It means treating even a small space as part of a wider ecological network, using planting, structure, and habitat to stitch fragments together and give nature room to breathe. It’s a simple idea learned from large‑scale conservation: every piece of land, however modest, can contribute to something bigger.
